Retraining and Upgrading Offers Ideal Solution in Competitive Job Market

Calgary, AB - September 4, 2009 - While autumn is traditionally the back-to-school season, post-secondary institutions in Alberta are facing steep increases in enrollments this fall. Over the next several weeks, thousands of Albertans will enroll in career-focused programs in order to navigate the current tight job market.  According to Alberta's leading private career training provider, there are a number of educational options that will improve the chances for career seekers (see http://reevescollege.ca/news).

For students looking for faster training options that allow them to quickly enter - or re-enter - the workforce, career-oriented education is an "excellent solution" says Bev Sillito, Regional Director of Reeves College in Alberta.

"Career training programs are developed to meet the needs of specific industries," says Sillito, "They are designed with input from professionals within the industry that ensure students learn the skills that employers require. Every program focuses on teaching current tools, techniques and technologies used in the job market and students receive instruction from industry-experienced instructors."

Reeves College, which offers college diplomas in areas such as business, art & design, legal and health care, saw its student population increase by about 67% between July 2008 and July 2009. Further growth is expected throughout the fall.

"At the moment, Albertans face a very a competitive job market," adds Sillito, "so upgrading your current skills or building new skill sets will definitely help job seekers re-enter the workforce or transition into a new career field."

Reeves College is currently accepting applications at campuses in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Lloydminster. More information is available at http://www.reevescollege.ca.
