Edmonton, AB – September 30, 2011 – We’ve all heard the hype over the iPad, the small device that allows you
to do it all, like surf the web, check your email, watch movies, read books and more. And, it’s just half an inch thick and weighs less than 2 pounds! But did you know that the iPad also helps the environment?
Here are a few of the iPad’s eco-friendly features.
- The iPad is free of environmentally toxic substances in its materials and packaging, and features arsenic-free display glass, materials free of brominated flame retardants and PVC, and mercury-free LCD display
- Power efficient, the iPad consumes far less energy than a desktop computer or laptop. Less energy is also used to read eBooks on an e-reader than what goes into producing and distributing traditional versions.
- Smaller, lighter packaging means less materials and waste, as well as reduced CO2 emissions produced during transport.
- Made with highly recyclable materials, the iPad’s aluminum and glass enclosure can easily be recycled after use.
- With the growing popularity of eBooks, devices such as the iPad are also reducing paper usage, which in turn saves trees!
