This week, Reeves College’s
Lethbridge campus participated in the 17th annual
Dress for the Cause
fundraising event to help promote awareness for breast cancer. Hosted
by the Breast Cancer Society of Canada, Dress for the Cause, formerly
known as Dress Down Day, encourages participants to wear pink to help
raise awareness to the illness.
According to the
Breast Cancer Society of Canada,
approximately one in nine women will develop breast cancer and an
average of fourteen women die from it each day. But this does not only
affect women. While this is still a
rare disease for men, amounting to less than 1% of all reported cases, an average of one in four affected men die of breast cancer.
Donations from fundraisers are allocated to multiple areas including research and clinical trials to help develop new treatments and medication.
Reeves
College is a strong supporter of the communities it lives and works in.
Many staff and students at the Lethbridge campus eagerly dressed up in
pink and donated to the worthy cause. Check out our
