Did you
know that in 2014, Alberta was ranked 9th on The Guardian’s Top 40
list of Holiday Hotspots? In 2015, Canada was once again ranked in the top 10
out of 141 tourist destinations in the world by the World Economic Forum.
Hospitality is one of the most vibrant and diverse
industries out there. Working in accommodations, food and beverage, and other
tourist attractions, you’ll meet businesspeople, tourists, and backpackers from
all over the world.
The Government of Canada projects over 58,000 job
openings in the country until 2022. With opportunities existing locally,
nationally, and internationally, this career path is perfect for those who wish
to travel the world, exploring new places, and meeting new people.
Reeves College’s
Hospitality
Business Management program prepares students by teaching them the ins and
outs of running hotels, restaurants, lodges, resorts, cruise ships, and other
types of accommodations. Aside from exceptional customer service skills, they
will also be trained in areas such as sales and marketing strategies, food
service, leadership and staff management, budgeting, and more.
While a formal education in the technical and theoretical
aspects of management is important, so is practical experience. Students
enrolled in the Hospitality Business Management program will partake in a
practicum in a related setting where they can not only practice the knowledge
and skills they have acquired in the classroom, they will also be able to adapt
them to real-world situations such as conflict resolution, effective
communication with staff and guests, and more.
This well-rounded program provides students with the
knowledge and hands-on training to succeed in a broad range of hospitality
settings or related fields such as business, office, and restaurant management.
