In honour of Thanksgiving last weekend, our Addictions and Community Services Worker students at Lethbridge collected winter mitts, gloves, toques, and scarves in an effort to help the less fortunate.
With the assistance of their instructor, these students carried more than 100 items over to Galt Gardens Park - a known gathering place for many people in need in Lethbridge. Tags were attached to each of these donated items that read "This is not lost. If you need this, please take it! Stay warm! Reeves College."
To the students and instructors astonishment, many of these items were collected before they even left the park!
Penni Kiss, campus director at Reeves College, Lethbridge says "any items that are not collected in the next two weeks will be picked up and donated to our local community centres, but I have a feeling there won't be anything left."
"It's already quite cold here, and there's an abundance of people who are in need of warm clothing during the holidays."
From all of us at Reeves College, stay warm this winter! Learn more about the Addictions and Community Services Worker program here.
