MEET MYRON: A GRAPHIC DESIGN TECHNOLOGY ALUMNI

Friday, November 5, 2021

We had the pleasure of hearing from Myron, a Graphic Design Technology Alumni from Reeves College. Myron is currently working as a graphic designer for Minuteman Press, a company owned by Leonaiter Ventures Inc. He is also a contributor to various different magazines. As a skilled graphic designer, Myron recently entered a logo design competition for London Runway and was chosen as the winner.

Myron's winning logo design for the London Runway competition can be found here on our social channels, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Finding a Passion in Graphic Design

Myron had always dreamed of attending college for post-secondary education. When the opportunity for him to attend college came along, he was eager to pursue a diploma in Graphic Design Technology since he'd always loved designing. During his time in college, Myron learned how to use a broad range of manipulation software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Premiere Pro.

Takeaways From College

Myron found his time in school extremely valuable in helping him get to where he is today.

"It's hard to say what my biggest takeaway from college was since everything I learned at Reeves College is beneficial to my current job. However, what I learned from photography is what inspired me to focus on this craft and become a magazine contributor," says Myron M., Graphic Design Technology Alumni.

Overcoming Challenges

A number of career opportunities were available to Myron including Digital Illustration, Interactive Media Development, and Digital Media Asset Development. It took Myron time to find the job that was best suited to his skills, education, and experience. After applying to different jobs Myron was finally able to find employment as a graphic designer at Minuteman Press. Myron looks forward to owning his own graphic design company in the future.

Advice to Future Grads or Students

Myron had some genuine and honest advice for students and new graduates: "My advice to students and new graduates is to focus on what they aspired to become. We're in the middle of a pandemic, and the new normal seems to be slowing everything down. As long as you don't give up, you will eventually achieve your goal.”
