August 2019 Calgary City Centre Newsletter

Hello everyone! August was the month of events at Calgary Reeves City Centre. We witnessed alot of rain and sunshine this summer. This month has been exciting and fun for our Reeves College Staff and Students. There was National Open House, Guest lectures, Orientation, Field Trips and alot more. Student Council was very active through out the month and they initiatied many exciting and fun events for our students. In addition to this, there were many other events like Samosa Day, Popsicle day, Student appreciation day, Resume Review session to name a few.

Events

National Open House
August 22, 2019

National Open House was a successful event at Reeves City Centre with informative workshops by MOA, SMWM, APA, BAM, GD and CYSW instructors. Sessions were full of activities, games and useful tips.

Samosa Day
August 8, 2019

Student Council arranged Samosa Day Fundraiser event and collected $554 for student council. It was a successful event and students ordered more than 500 frozen and fresh samosas.

Popsicle Day
August 28, 2019

Student council arranged Popsicle day to appreciate students of Reeves college.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Diego Tover

He is a mature student that embodies the philosophy that "never stop learning because life never stops teaching". His attendance is stellar and stays in the classroom working for up to 8 hours almost every day,he has a positive attitude.

Guest Lectures for students

We had amazing guest speakers this month. The content they shared added value to our students' education experience. Students could relate their learning with the real world and could see different perspective at the same time.

Public Speaking Event in September

Student council is ready with another public speaking event for September 18th.

Pizza Day in September

Just like Samosa day and Popsicle Day of August, there will be Pizza day in September.

6 Sec. Resume Review Event

Student Council and MS. Suzanne Adams (Employement Specialist) arranged  an activity  "6 sec resume review" where she reviewed resume of students and gave students guidelines on how to improve their resume as per industry standards.
